Intrigued by the vague hints of the elderly solicitor, Dee decides to stay on the station for six months while she attempts to make sense of the past.Ryan Carey has managed Wilderness Springs cattle station since his father died suddenly. Devastated when he discovers the property has not been bequeathed to him, the last thing Ryan expects is the arrival of a woman, and one who is keen to take over the running of the property. With reluctance, he agrees to work with Dee, but as she tries to make sense of why the property was left to her, a chilling secret from the past will shock them both. As Dee and Ryan attempt to uncover the secrets of Wilderness Springs, it soon becomes very clear that someone will do anything to stop them discovering the truth.Set in the harsh countryside west of Kakadu National Park, this is a thrilling mystery about hidden family secrets and finding love in the harsh Australian outback.

Book Hidden Valley (Porter Sisters Book 4) Review :

HIDDEN VALLEY is a standalone read in a series. It can be read alone without the reader not feeling lost. There is no colorful language, I don't think, I don't remember any or sexy scenes. The station is set in the Northern Territory, Australia, on a huge cattle ranch. Cows are round up by helicopter!! This is a great story. There is definitely a love story, a slow falling and lasting love. This story has it all. There is adventure, bad guys, betrayal, gun fire, lying, cheating, and of course, SECRETS. I love secrets in a story and this one had quite a few. I finished reading at 2:30 a.m. I could not find a place to put the book down and then expect to fall asleep. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very end. This is the story of the last sibling. Dee has lived her whole 30+ years thinking she was the child of Gerard and Catherine at their nut farm. She has always felt that something was off but she didn't know what. Gerard was withdrawn and never treated her like a daughter. Catherine was an alcoholic and stayed in an alcoholic fog. Dee ran the nut farm my herself. Her dad's summer hobby. He never did anything but take the praise for all the advancement the farm made. It was all Dee. The end for Dee came when her father set-up with his business partner to propose to Dee. He would then sell the nut farm. Something wasn't right. First, she and Rodney were friends, nothing more. He was also sleeping with a "friend" in town the night before he proposed to her. She discovers that she was adopted. She received a letter from a lawyer stating she had an inheritance coming and she needs to report to their office ASAP.Ryan runs the largest cattle ranch in the district. His father passed and he expected the ranch to come to him. The worth is over 10 million dollars. He works the ranch with his mother's brother, Joe, and his son Cy helping out along with all the hired hands. The lawyer is stalling on the inheritance and Ryan is starting to lose patience when the lawyer tells him to come to his office for an appointment. It is there that Ryan meets Dee and discovers that she owns half his cattle ranch. His father has left it to the two of them equally. Now the secrets start. WHY would someone she has never met leave her 1/2 a ranch valued at that much money and why all the stipulations. Ryan is livid. Why would his father do this unless Dee was his sister by another mother. That would mean he cheated and his father would not do that. Why? Too many questions as he lets his temper get the best of him and he is rude to Dee. She has no idea what is going on but she knows the life she knew was all a lie. Who then are her parents? This is so good. You don't see a lot of the secrets being exposed coming. You have to wonder how many people are walking this earth thinking their beginnings are one thing and then they take a DNA test and find out nothing is as they thought it was. This is a great story and I highly recommend it.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7 /23/202l.
Book four in the Porter Sisters series when there are only three Porter sisters who have each had their own book. How can this be? Well there turns out to be another sibling in a delightful twist created by this talented Australian author.I really enjoyed this portrayal of life in the Northern Territory. Most of the action takes place either in the lovely city of Darwin or on the huge cattle station of Wilderness Springs. There is an account of mustering the cattle using a helicopter which puts the size of the operation into perspective.Of course there is a romance which is realistic and nicely written, and there are good guys and bad guys and a few scary moments along the way. I always enjoy how the author writes each of these stories about a different couple yet she brings all the other characters back as well.I would be happy if she does it again. Another sibling might be a stretch but there are plenty of other characters who could come back and keep the series going.
